What if you want a Mustang Cobra? continued

Well now that you all know how to look for a Mustang, lets get into my story of how I picked mine up. We start out with a little background on the trek to Oregon. When my dad was just out of college he flew down to a little suburb just outside Chicago, Illinois to purchase a Stingray Corvette. I always remembered him talking about the drive back to Minnesota and how the experience of the trip was the best part of the whole process. So, when I found a deal on my Mustang that would require me to fly out to Oregon to purchase and pick it up, I was so very excitted. I flew out to Portland, Oregon and upon arrival, was met by the couple that owned the Mustang. I then took my testdrive to double check that everything on the car checked out. When it did, I gave the owner his money, signed the title over to me, and started the long drive home. I had so much fun driving my new car home. I made very good time and by midnight I was into Wyoming. I took a three hour nap at a weigh station along the highway and when I woke up, I just kept on driving. On my way home, I got to see things that I had never seen before. First of all, I had never been in Oregon, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, or South Dakota. Secondly, I had never been to the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore, so on my way through I stopped and enjoyed how increadible this monument really is. In the weeks that would follow, I came to relize that my dad was right, the experience of traveling to get a car was the best part. The experience I had was amazing and I do not regret it at all. Here is another story I found online that was a blog on a group of people that drove a mustang to Raratonga, Disneyland, and Las Vegas. There experience had some similarities to mine and I enjoyed reading it. Virtual Traveller Blog

Mustang News

I have been looking for a good source for information on Ford's mustangs and have found it in Mustang world. I had only seen one example of the new Knight Rider series kit until I came across this site. As I have looked at the site more, I have found that the site has so much information covering a very wide variety of topics dealing with Mustangs. From new upgrades to club meets, this site lets you know when everything is going to happen and the site has highlight pictures from the events. My favorite part of the site is the one-stop-shop of information available at Mustang World.

What is you want a Mustang Cobra?

What should you do if you want to buy a Mustang Cobra just like mine? Well what I did at the beginning of this summer was started researching. I would first like to say that unless you know how much your machine is worth, you will not know if you are getting a good deal or not. I kind of took this thinking to the extreme and researched and searched for a sportscar for about two years total. The reason for so much preliminary research, was that I was spending my own money on the car. So, I did not want to make a poor decision. Another idea to keep in mind is to keep your options own. The broader your spectrom of cars that you would be happy with, the better deal you will be able to find. Finally when you have narrowed down your search to a couple cars and a few different variations of those cars, I would start your formal search for your car. I would first input the general specs, of the vehicles you are looking for, into a depreciation calculator, such as Kelly Blue Book or NADA Car Guide. These two sites will help you get a grasp on the average pricing you can expect for the vehicles you are looking at. Take this information and go online to such websites as autotrader, carsoup, or craigslist. You can also look in the classified section of the newspaper or a cars forsale magazine from the grocery store or gas station. Finally check the car over or have your mechanic take a look at the vehicle before purchasing it.

New Exhaust

I have done quite a bit of research on Mustang Exhaust Systems. I am looking for the biggest gain in horsepower, while still staying in a reasonable price range. During my research I found a company called Hi-Performance Art. This company comes with a wealth of recommendations from some of my friends that also have a Mustang. Nearly all of them recommended Hi-Performance Art to do the work on my Cobra. They claimed that the owner and those that work there are incredible at getting the very greatest amount of horsepower for a very competitive price. I have decided to have the guys at Hi-Performance do the work on my Cobra installing a new Magnaflow Catback System, a custom made cold-air intake, and they will tweak the computer.

Mustang Club

Wow, I never thought I would be in a car club at such a young age. I am seriously considering signing up to become a member of the SVT Mustang Cobra Club. When I think of a car club, I think of going to meetings and weird initiations. But as I have been studying up on the idea, I have come to relies that a car club is so much more than that. Memebership into a car club gets you invitations to car meets, access to the web page, the opportunity to meet other friends that share your love of a particular type of car, etc. The most important thing that a car club can offer is experience. When involved in a club, you have the opportunity to pick the brains of others in the club and find out exactly what to do to your car to make it go the fastest speed, for the least amount of money, if you need to purchase a new exhaust you can go to a meet and listen to the various options and then pick which one you like. This way you know exactly what you want and you can make the right decision the first time.

Who else has a Cobra

I found this Forum page for Mustangs a couple months ago when I was looking at buying new exhaust pipes for it. The page has every thing about Mustangs you could want. I especially like the part where they tell stories about Mustangs. Some of them are very funny and others are very helpful. Ford Mustang Forum

New wheels I am looking at getting

GT4 Mustang Wheels
There is a new wheel design rolling around on the market this year and it was released early this spring. These new GT4 style wheels are available from AmericanMuscle.com! There are several advantages to having these wheels. Most important, there is a larger interior clearance for larger brakecalipers and rotors (a bigger deep dish clearance). This will allow just about any high-performance brakingsystem, including the new Cobra brakesystem, to be easily installed. The GT4 wheel molds style and functionality into one solid wheel. Not only will you beable to fit those new performance brake calipers and rotors inside your newwheels, but you will be turning heads with a brand new design that is absolutely sleek and cool. These new Mustang wheels are available in a chrome or hyper-coated black finish and can fit any 1994-2004 Ford Mustang or 2005+ Mustangs. If I end up purchasing these fine new shoes for my Cobra, I believe I will be getting the chrome finish
